Steve McQueen And The TAG Heuer Monaco

Wednesday 4 May 2011 @ 10:09 pm

steve mcqueen tag heuer monaco

Steve McQueen made the Heuer Monaco Chronograph watch a big hit in 1971 thanks to the film “Le Mans” in which he starred. McQueen defined cool during this era, so anything he wore was going to be popular, but this watch is still popular today due to its classic design.

With a square shape and racing-inspired faces, this avant-garde watch is one of the few in the TAG Heuer (Heuer became a part of the TAG empire decades ago) lineup that I’d still recommend today.

Paul Newman’s Famous Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona

Wednesday 4 May 2011 @ 6:53 pm

Paul Newman Oyster Cosmograph Daytona

Famed actor and racecar driver Paul Newman used to wear what has become one of the most iconic watches of all time. What’s really fascinating is that the Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona was not a popular watch when it was released. It was discontinued due to lack of demand, but that level of demand eventually rose. Actually, it skyrocketed. Now, fine watch collectors would knock over their own mother just to get the chance to wear one of these rare watches. Some examples have sold for six figures.
