Should the Redskins survive their week 15 game against the Giants, they will have another huge divisional matchup on December 27 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys should be the bottom team in the NFC East this season, which still means they’ll probably be 8-8 or 9-7. The division is just that stacked. If a game or two goes their way, they could end up with 10 or 11 wins by this point in the season. The Redskins need to play some smash-mouth football with Tony Romo and company and send them back to Dallas to make golf plans for the offseason. There will be just 2 weeks left in the season after this game, so it’s likely to be a do-or-die situation for at least one of these teams. The Redskins revamped defense will be gunning for Eli Manning, who has a tendency to do stupid things under pressure but luckily rarely experiences such pressure. The Giants defense should be one of the best in football this season, so Jason Campbell and company will have their hands full for this game. They have Drew Brees leading their offfense, and he’s one of the most underrated quarterbacks in football, but they also have a lot of holes in their offense and defense. The Saints are not strong enough to win on Drew Brees’ arm, because they just give up too many points. I think this matchup favors the Redskins well, as their defense will hold Brees at bay while the Redskins offense exploits the Saints weaknesses.

I think the Redskins really lucked out with their non conference schedule, as the Broncos should not be contenders this season and will probably struggle to make it to 6 wins. I think it’s games like this that will help make the Redskins playoff contenders in the NFC, even if they have to sneak under the radar of the so-called experts. The Redskins will host one of their biggest games of the season when the Philadelphia Eagles come to town on October 26. This game is a Monday Night Football game, and it will be nationally televised. The Eagles were one of the favorites to win the NFC crown this season, and their signing of Michael “Ron Mexico” Vick has nothing to do with it. In fact, they’ll probably hardly ever play Vick and they just want him as draft pick bait for the end of the year. Donovan McNabb is their quarterback, and he’s a darn good one. Giants kick a field goal on their opening drive. Redskins down 3-0.

Clinton Portis runs for a huge gain on his first rushing attempt of the season. Looks to be about 40 yards. Fantasy owners everywhere pat themselves on the back.

Randle El takes a handoff and then looks to pass. He’s tackled in the backfield for a big loss. 2nd down and very long.

Skins fail to convert on 3rd down. The Randle El play took us out of field goal range.

Punt is nearly perfect, but the coverage team fails to prevent it from bouncing in the end zone. Touchback.

The Redskins will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 4 at FedEx Field. The Bucs were a 9-7 team a year ago, but many experts are expecting a huge fall for this team as their offense seems much weaker than last season. They fired their offensive coordinator a week before the start of the season, never a good sign. They also have a new coach who is more of a defensive coach than offensive. Expect low scoring games against these Bucs, but also expect to see them at the losing end. Redskins win this game by 10 points. Tickets are going for under $40.
