Sports Illustrated’s mock draft is out, and they have the Titans selecting Florida wide receiver/running back/offensive machine Percy Harvin in the 1st round. The Titans offense was exposed as a bit one dimensional after Chris Johnson went down in their final game against the Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs. They could really use a guy like Harvin, who would likely play wide receiver but could also fill in as running back or be featured in reverse-type plays. He’s got great speed and he became a great receiver for the national champion Florida Gators this season.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher has informed quarterback Kerry Collins that he will start next season. Collins became the starter after Vince Young’s meltdown early on this season. He was informed last week that he will be invited to the Pro Bowl.

The NFL’s head of officiating, Mike Pereira, said yesterday that a penalty should have been called on the Ravens for a delay of game at the controversial end of their playoff game against the Titans last week. The Ravens would win the game by 7 points, but a clear delay of game penalty would have stifled a go-ahead drive by the Ravens. The play clock reached zero at least 2 full seconds before the ball was snapped.

One official is responsible for watching the play clock, and he’s supposed to see that the clock has reached zero, then look to make sure the ball has been not been snapped before throwing the flag. That official must have been really slow moving his eyes from the clock to the ball.
