Lofa Totupu’s Season Over, So Is Seahawks

One week after playing like one of the best teams in the league, the Seahawks are looking like their season might be over. They lost to the Cardinals yesterday, and in doing so lost Lofa Totupu for the rest of the season with a left pectoral tear. Totupu is a 3-time pro bowler at linebacker and the leader of a defense that has 2 shutouts on the season. With an injury to Kerney during the game and the continued injured status of Hill and Trufant, it’s hard to see how we’re going to win games against the better teams on our schedule.

The Seahawks will celebrate the new year and the new decade with their final regular season home game on January 3 against the Tennessee Titans. This non-conference game could actually end up having huge playoff implications for both teams, as each is expected to be in a tight battle for their respective division titles. This will probably be the game where Seahawks rookie linebacker Aaron Curry proves he was the top rookie of the 2009-2010 season, ahead of all those heralded QBs who probably won’t even make it to the end of the season (and yes Mark Sanchez and Matt Stafford, I’m talking about you). Tickets for this game are selling in the $50 – $75 range on the low end of the secondary market, but they’ll be all but gone if both teams are contenders come late December.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be visiting the Pacific Northwest in late December for a game at Qwest Field. The Bucs used to be a good team every year, but it appears that era has ended. Some experts are predicting they’ll win only 4 games this season. That would be good news for the Seahawks, who will likely be battling for playoff positioning by this point in December. Tickets for this game are actually reselling on the light side, so you can get some pretty good deals on seats if you don’t mind sitting away from the action. If you want to get up close and personal with the Seahawks (or the Bucs, if you like to taunt), those seats will probably set you back $120 or more.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seahawks on December 6

Cheap ticket source for this game

The Seahawks will spend nearly a month on the road before returning home to Qwest Field for a divisional matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been in rebuilding mode for several years now, and it doesn’t help when the guys they draft don’t want to sign with them and hold out of training camp (why would a rookie need training camp anyway? College kids can cram and learn a new system overnight!). The 49ers are a much improved team over last season, but they still will struggle to get near .500. A game like this should have them very motivated to dethrone a perennial favorite in their division, so the Seahawks better be on their toes. Tickets for this one are selling on the secondary market in the $60 – $80 range.

Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions on November 8th – Tickets Available

Tickets for sale for this game against the Lions

The dreadful Detroit Lions will be coming to Seattle on November 8 this season. The Lions are expected to improve on last year’s record by 2 to 3 games this season, which isn’t saying much considering the Lions failed to win even a single game last year and were one of the worst teams of all time. The Lions are still in a rebuilding phase, but they’re still the oldest starting team in the NFL. I’m not sure how they manage to do that, considering they have the 1st pick of the draft almost every year. You would think some of those guys would turn into regular starters. One that has is Matthew Stafford, who really failed to impress in the preseason but obviously has a lot of upside. It’s too bad the Lions don’t have any blocking for him. This game better be a Seahawks blowout. Tickets are selling for $40 – $75 for the cheap seats, but there are much better seats available for those willing to pay.

Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals on October 18

Who wants tickets for the game against the Cards?

The Seahawks will play their biggest home game of the season when the Arizona Cardinals come to town on October 18. The Cardinals were only 9-7 last season, but then they got hot in the playoffs and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks know that this is the one team they have to be able to beat (especially at home) if they hope to take the division crown this year. Although the Cardinals obviously have a great deep pass threat, they are overrated in most parts of the game and their age should start to show this season. I don’t know how much longer Kurt Warner can keep up with this league, and Matt Leinart hardly looks like he’s ready to take the helm for the the defending NFC champs.

The Seahawks will host their first of two non-conference home games of the season on October 11 when the Jacksonville Jaguars make a rare visit to Qwest Field. I think the Seahawks really caught a break with this scheduling, as the Jaguars are not predicted to be a very good team this year. Tickets for this game are reselling at prices that will be hard to beat all season for Seahawks home games. The cheaper seats can be found for under $60 on the secondary market, while higher end seats are going for around $150 – $200 apiece.

Who wants cheap tickets for this game?

The Chicago Bears will visit Qwest Field on 9/27 in what will probably be one of the Seahawks tougher home games of the season. The Bears made some big moves in the offseason and will have a much better offensive attack with new QB Jay Cutler, and they are expected to contend for the NFC North crown with the Minnesota Vikings. Tickets for this game are selling strongly on the secondary market, but you can still find decent seats for under $100.

Believe it or not, there is still time to purchase tickets for this game

The Seahawks will start their season with a home game at Qwest Field against the St. Louis Rams. We should win this game by a good margin, as the Rams look like they’ll probably be one of the worst teams in the NFC this season, while the Seahawks should contend for a division title. That doesn’t mean we should overlook this game by any means. No matter how bad the Rams might be, they are still a team in our division that we need to crush when we get the chance, and this is that chance. Tickets for this game are selling in the $70 – $125 range for the cheaper seats, with much better seats for computer software billionaires and yuppies going for much more.

SI Mock Draft: Could the Seahawks Land Crabtree?

It looks like there’s a very good chance that the stars could align in the Seahawks favor on April 25th and they could end up with exactly the player they need: high-impact wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Crabtree was a dominating force on Texas Tech’s high-power offense, and he’s the type of wide receiver the Seahawks haven’t seen in years. Usually I would not favor picking a receiver with a 1st round pick (ask Matt Millen), but in this case it fills an obvious hole in the Seahawks offense. This guy’s YAC numbers are amazing, already drawing comparisons to Larry Fitzgerald (I’m not quite that optimistic). Either way, look for Crabtree to make a difference in the Seahawk’s offense from day one.
