Sports Illustrated’s first mock draft is posted, and they predict San Francisco will take USC quarterback Mark Sanchez with their 1st round selection (10th overall pick). It’s well-known that coach Singletary is a fan of Shaun Hill, but it’s also clear that the organization is looking for a long term solution to their quarterback problem that has lingered since Steve Young left oh-so-many years ago. Mark Sanchez needs some time to mature considering he was only a 1-year starter at USC, but most scouts believe that he has the higher upside than Hill and brings more natural skill to the table. Look for Sanchez to sit and learn for some time before stepping in as the Niners QB of the future.
