Pittsburgh Wins Despite Blunders, Polamalu Injured

Here’s a quick recap on the Steelers 13-10 win over the Titans tonight:
- Troy Polamalu was injured in the first half. The leg injury looked bad on camera, as it appeared his leg bent backward. On the positive side, the bending seemed to be at the knee, which I suppose is better than a bone break. On the other hand, it could be an ACL or MCL, which would be disastrous.

- Before his injury, Polamalu had an amazing one-handed interception. He also had 3 penalty flags thrown against him, 2 of which were really stupid penalties that I wouldn’t expect from a veteran of his caliber. The other was a poor call on the refs part.

- Hines Ward had a great catch-and-run play with under 2 minutes left in the game, but he failed to protect the ball when he got down around the 5 yard line. He was hit and the ball popped out. If he had just gone down they could have run out the clock and kicked an easy game winning field goal. Instead, they had to do it in overtime.

- I think it’s fair to say this was a sloppy game, although it wasn’t poorly played. I guess it’s what can be expected from the first game of the season.
