This is not a repeat of 2006. Well, it sort of is. The Eagles have signed veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia to fill in for Donovan McNabb as he recovers from a broken rib. As we all know, Michael Vick will not be eligible until week 3, and even then he’s not likely to start. Let’s make this clear: Vick is not ready to play NFL-level football yet. He’s probably a good 3 weeks to a month away from being ready. He’ll probably take some snaps and maybe show up with the offense for “special” plays, but Vick is not going to be the guy filling in for McNabb if he has an extended absence.
