Former Yankees center fielder Bernie Williams never officially retired from baseball, and an 0 for 5 performance in this year’s World Baseball Classic has convinced him that he should start mulling a return. Williams last played for the Yankees two years ago and seemed ineffective in a defensive role, meaning he’d probably have to play DH. At this point of the preseason, most teams already have a few guys who can fill in at a DH spot.

Williams has said that he does not want to climb back to the big leagues via a minor league contract or through an independent league, so this whole comeback idea probably isn’t going to happen.
