Despite some rumors floating around, Carlos Beltran just has a bone bruise in the area of his knee and is not facing possible career-threatening surgery. He did see a surgeon in Vail, Colorado who happens to specialize in a microfracture procedure that uses marrow and other clotting material to simulate lost cartilage in joints, but he will not be performing that surgery on Beltran. He agreed with Mets team doctors’ assessment that Beltran just has a bone bruise and should probably sit out a few weeks more before returning to play. Now everybody just take a deep breath and relax.
Here’s a video of what happened during the pregame before the Mets-Yankees game on Sunday. I can’t wait until the next Subway series!
Rumors are floating around that the mysterious stomach virus that has sidelined a sizeable chunk of the Mets roster lately is the same Swine Flu virus that has closed schools in Queens. I believe that at least some of the injuries being reported right now are not the “strains and sprains” that are being reported to the press. Ask yourself this: if a dozen Mets were suffering from the Swine Flu, would management want to tell that to the press or would they try to hide it? I wouldn’t blame them, either. The last thing we need is more Swine Flu paranoia.
