The Jets Are The Best 3-0 Team In Football

Tuesday 29 September 2009 @ 3:45 pm

I’m sick of all the cocky Giants fans claiming their team is the best of the undefeateds and just expecting everyone to accept it as the truth. Let’s take a quick look at the facts. First of all, the Giants pulled off 2 of their wins at the end of the game and with the help of some luck. I’m still not sure how that tipped pass against the Cowboys found its way into a receiver’s hands. Second, the Giants just think they are beating good teams because they are playing teams that were good in the past. They’ve played the Redskins, Cowboys, and Buccaneers. Hooray, those were great teams in 2006! This is 2009, and those 3 teams will struggle to combine for 15 wins this season.

The Jets, on the other hand, have played the much-improved Houston Texans (wait and see), along with the Patriots and the Titans (the best 0-3 team ever, they’ll win 9 games or more this season, I guarantee it). There are only two teams that should be considered the best of the 3 and 0’s, and they are the Jets and the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants, quite frankly, aren’t even close. Oh, and nobody will be fooled when they’re 5-0 either. The Chiefs and Raiders are hardly worthy opponents.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets, January 3rd

Sunday 27 September 2009 @ 4:32 am

Tickets for this game are still available

The first time I saw this year’s schedule, I saw this matchup in week 17 and knew we were in good shape for a late season run. The Bengals are almost always terrible, and they’ll be even worse when they have to come to Giants Stadium to play the Jets. My Madden simulations have the Bengals winning 5 or 6 games this season, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to be one of them. If the Jets are in a close division or wildcard race come the end of the season, I’ve got to believe we’ve got the upper hand if this is a possible clincher game.

Rex Ryan Stakes Jets Place As Top Team, ESPN Doesn’t Think So

Tuesday 22 September 2009 @ 10:54 pm

Rex Ryan has Mark Sanchez and the rest of the Jets dreaming of Super Bowl trophies as he’s led them to a 2-0 start, but the rest of the NFL and the media don’t seem to agree. ESPN has the Jets ranked #8 in their weekly power rankings. That’s 2 spots behind the 1-1 Pittsburgh Steelers, who have zero running game. The Jets are only going to get better with a rookie quarterback getting more comfortable with the system, so I’m not sure what’s so wrong with the Jets perfect start.

Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets – December 20

Saturday 19 September 2009 @ 4:17 am

Need tickets for the Falcons/Jets game?

The Jets will play their second home game against an NFC opponent when the Atlanta Falcons come to town on December 20. The Falcons are led by Matt Ryan and will probably be the surprise team of the NFC this season. They don’t seem to be on too many experts radar, but my Madden simulations have them coming out on top of their division most of the time, usually with 10 or 11 wins. The other good team in that division is the New Orleans Saints, who are finally emerging from mediocrity to be a respectable team in the NFL. The Jets should not overlook this game against the Falcons, because it will be the toughest non-conference home game they’ll play all season.

Carolina Panthers vs. New York Jets – 11/29

Tuesday 15 September 2009 @ 4:10 am

Tickets still available for the Jets/Panthers game

Not until the end of November will the Jets host an NFC team for the first time this season. The Carolina Panthers will come here on November 29. I don’t expect much from the Carolina Panthers this season, and my Madden 2010 season simulations seem to agree. The Panthers are averaging a 5-10 record through 8 simulations so far, with minor tweaks made to each season to test for a few different variables. But enough of this video game technobabble, football games are played on the field. Let’s hope the Jets can equal their video game counterparts and dispense of the Panthers quickly and without incident.

Jets Have Road Version of Titans Throwback This Season

Friday 11 September 2009 @ 1:14 am

The Jets have been wearing their old New York Titans throwback uniforms for a few years now at home games, but this season will see the introduction of the New York Titans road unis. That means white jerseys, gold pants, and stripes galore. Don’t worry, I’ve got a picture so you can see what I’m talking about:

New York Jets Titans throwback

I like these a lot better than the home version of the Jets/Titans uniforms.

Did Jets Management Sandbag Us Last Season?

Thursday 10 September 2009 @ 3:51 pm

Brett Favre is claiming he was injured with a partially torn bicep muscle for the last month of the season last year, and that Jets management knew about. He also claims he offered to sit because he thought he was doing harm to the team, but the Jets kept playing him anyway. These are disturbing allegations considering how the Jets collapsed at the end of last season and how obvious it was that Favre wasn’t even close to 100%. Did the Jets keep playing him just because they knew he’d put people in the stands, even though they risked (and lost) a shot at the playoffs as a result? Or is Brett Favre just making excuses for completely sucking in December and setting himself (and Vikings fans) up for failure this season? Favre has lost credibility after his charade the past 2 offseasons, and the Jets management has never had any credibility to begin with, so who knows what’s really going on here.

Jacksonville Jaguars at the New York Jets – 11/15

Wednesday 9 September 2009 @ 4:01 am

You can still find tickets for this game here

Having finished off their home games against division opponents in the first half of the season, the Jets start the second half of their home schedule against the Jaguars on November 15. The Jaguars roster may be filled with a bunch of no-names, but they have the potential to surprise people this season. My Madden 2010 simulations have them just missing the playoffs but posting a respectable 9-7 record. They’d probably look like a much better franchise had they not played in the same division as the Indianapolis Colts for the past decade. It’s hard to be successful when your divisional opponents win 11 or 12 games year in and year out. Of course, the Jets have had to deal with the Patriots, so it’s not like our situation is much different.

Miami Dolphins vs. The Jets – November 1

Saturday 5 September 2009 @ 3:54 am

Tickets for the Jets/Dolphins game

This is the game that Jets fans wait all year for. The Miami Dolphins became our arch rivals in the 1990’s, and the rivalry continues each season as these teams slug it out. The Dolphins Wildcat offense proved frustrating last year, but I suspect defenses around the league will be better prepared for it this season. It may not have been a gimmick offense last season, but it will be now that everyone tries to copy it. It only takes one injured QB for the luster to dull on this odd offensive scheme. I actually think the Dolphins are an improved team over last year, which is saying a lot considering they won the division. We need to be ready for this game, and all of us fans better be ready to give the ‘Phins hell.

Buffalo Bills vs. Jets – October 18

Wednesday 2 September 2009 @ 3:49 am

Who still needs tickets for this game?

The Buffalo Bills will make their annual visit to Giants Stadium on October 18. The Jets have had the Bills number in recent years, which shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering the Bills have sucked for the past decade. This year they’ve saved themselves any QB controversy by letting high-pitched deadweight QB J.P. Losman go. It’s Trent Edwards’ team now, win or lose, and I predict it will probably be more lose than win. This is one division rival game that I am not concerned about in the least. We should win this game by 20 points and send a statement to the rest of the AFC that we are a class above teams like the Bills.
