Sports Illustrated’s mock draft has the Giants picking Hakeem Nicks, a wide receiver out of North Carolina, in the 1st round of the draft this April. The Giants really shot themselves in the leg at the wide receiver position this season, and they really need to address that issue right off the bat. Plaxico Burress should be considered a done deal for now, and Giants fans should even care. Burress wasn’t that good this season even before he had a bullet from his own gun shot through his leg. Hakeem Nicks is a great technical wide receiver who always seems to be exactly where the quarterback wants him. He’s not incredibly fast, but he’s got good size and good hands. Check out this highlight clip:
Just days after losing Steve Spagnuolo, who left to become coach of the Rams, the Giants looked within to fill their vacant defensive coordinator position. They promoted Bill Sheridan — who had previously worked as their linebacker coach — to the job. Giants players and coaches alike seemed to agree with the decision.
The Giants offense was garbage today, failing to score a single touchdown as they fell to the Eagles, 23-11. The Giants, who many picked as the best team in football this season after the Patriots’ Tom Brady went down to injury in week 1, will now be left to contemplate the season that might have been.
Next season’s team will look much different, particularly the running game. At least one part of the Earth, Wind, and Fire trio will go elsewhere, and the likelihood is two of them will go.
