Jaguars at Patriots – 12/27 – Final Regular Season Home Game

Sunday 20 September 2009 @ 3:10 am

Who still needs tickets for this game?

As we learned last season, nothing is guaranteed in the sport of football. Just because you’ve been dominant in your division for the better part of a decade doesn’t give you an automatic spot in the playoffs this year. With that said, the Patriots will play their final regular season home game of the season on December 27 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If you’re like me, you believe the Patriots will probably have the division wrapped up by this point, but who knows what might happen? An injury here and an injury there could have us still fighting for a precious playoff spot this late in the season, and the Pats will need us to show up in force and ready to roar to give them that extra little push into the postseason.

We Now Have Our Own ESPN Website

Wednesday 16 September 2009 @ 12:58 pm

Did anyone else notice the recent launch of ESPNBoston.com? Boston is such a great sports city ESPN has decided we deserve our own website devoted just to Boston-area sports. Only a select few other cities are deserving of this honor. ESPNBoston.com comes even before the launch of ESPNNewYork.com, which will come later this fall.

I really love this new site, but I hope it doesn’t put the Boston newspaper sports editors out on the streets. ESPN has essentially created a Boston newspaper sports section, except ESPN’s site updates all the time and features videos. If you’re buying the newspaper just to read the sports section, you might consider dropping your subscription in favor of ESPN’s new site.

New England Wins With Classic Comeback

Tuesday 15 September 2009 @ 3:49 am

The Patriots may not have played very well against the much-maligned Buffalo Bills, but they pulled out the win tonight with a dramatic 4th quarter comeback. Down by 11 points with under 8 minutes to go in the game, Tom Brady led the Pats with 2 touchdown scoring drives to put them up for good. They also ran into a bit of luck when Bills kickoff return specialist Leodis McKelvin inexplicably decided to run back a kick he could have safely downed in the end zone with just a few minutes to go in the game. He fumbled the ball, giving us great field position and taking away a Bills opportunity to waste a few minutes and/or all of our timeouts.

Carolina Panthers vs. Patriots – December 13

Saturday 12 September 2009 @ 3:03 am

Need tickets for the game against the Panthers?

Jake Delhomme and the Panthers will be playing the Patriots in Foxboro on December 13. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen the Panthers play at Gillette Stadium before. I’m sure they have, but it must have been a game I missed. Either way, it’s a fairly rare event. Steve Smith had some injury concerns during the preseason, so who knows if he’ll even still be on the active roster by December. Tickets for this non-conference game are the cheapest you’re going to find for a Pats home game all season, with standing room only seats going for under $55 when I last checked.

New York Jets vs Patriots – November 22

Tuesday 8 September 2009 @ 2:53 am

Who needs tickets to the Jets/Pats game?

The Patriots will play their final AFC East opponent at home on November 22 when Mark Sanchez and the Jets come to Foxboro. The Jets took a big risk in trading up for Mark Sanchez in this year’s draft, and it seems to leave a big question mark on where their 2009 offense will be as the rookie learns the new system. I really don’t think Kellen Clemens is going to be leading them anywhere but Mediocre Boulevard, and I can’t remember the last time a true rookie stepped in and successfully led an NFL offense. With that all said, this isn’t a game the Patriots can afford to overlook, and it might be our chance to put a stranglehold on the AFC East division.

Miami Dolphins vs. Patriots – November 8

Thursday 3 September 2009 @ 2:47 am

See who’s selling tickets for the game against the Dolphins

The Patriots home schedule has them playing their two key AFC East games in the month of November. The first one will be on November 8th against the Miami Dolphins and that pain-in-the-ass Wildcat offense. I’m not sure if the Dolphins were a fluke last year or not, but that offense seems to be catching on, and it’s really freakin’ annoying. I think defenses are going to be better prepared for it this year and we’ll see this fad offense fade away quicker than Pogs, Crocs, and Beanie Babies. I’ve found standing room only tickets for this game for under $75, which is cheap for Foxboro and a little surprising for a matchup that appears to me to be very important in the Pats schedule.
