SI 2009 Mock NFL Draft: Chiefs Select Matthew Stafford

Tuesday 27 January 2009 @ 1:57 pm

Sports Illustrated is predicting the Chiefs will take Georgia junior QB Matthew Stafford with the 3rd pick in the 2009 NFL draft. Stafford, who could potentially go at #1 to the Lions if they decide to continue on in the Matt Millen tradition, will likely follow two offensive linemen in the draft: Andre Smith from Alabama and Eugene Monroe from Virginia.

Drafting a QB in the first round of the draft is not something usually recommended by the experts, especially when the offensive line could use some work. I think there’s a very good chance the Chiefs pass on Stafford and go with someone like Michael Oher from Mississippi to pair with Branden Albert.

At Least Tony Gonzalez Doesn’t Suck

Sunday 11 January 2009 @ 4:40 pm

In a season that most Chiefs fans would like to forget, there was shining star that stood far above the rest. Tight end Tony Gonzalez was named to his fifth AP All Pro team yesterday. Despite the Chiefs 2 win season, Gonzalez still made it quite clear to sportswriters that he was the premier tight end in football.
