One of the Jaguars biggest rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, will come to town to play the Jags in a nationally televised game on Thursday, December 17th. It’s rare to see a Jaguars game with higher ticket demand than this one. The cheap seats are selling for well north of $60. This could end up being a make-or-break game for both teams and could be critical in the AFC playoff picture, so I’m sure that’s driving up demand. That, and people just want to take in a Jaguars night game and then skip work and school on Friday. This game has an 8:20pm start time, by the way.

Jaguars Owner Wants To Draft Tebow To Draw Fans

Wayne Weaver wants to draft Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow in next April’s draft, but for all the wrong reasons. Jaguars attendance is down and it looks like all of their home games might get blacked out this season. Weaver figures that drafting Jacksonville native Tebow will bring fans to the stadium, even if it doesn’t improve the team’s record. Other NFL teams have expressed uneasiness about drafting Tebow because he’s not a pure quarterback and his pocket passing ability is questionable. They don’t believe Tebow can survive in an NFL that punishes QB’s who run with the ball.

The Miami Dolphins will visit the Jaguars in the second to last Jags home game of the season. I can tell that Jaguars fans have a lot of confidence in their team this year, because even at this point in the season I’m already seeing tickets for the final games of the year selling for more than tickets at the beginning of the year. That’s always a sign that expectations are high for a team to be in the playoff hunt come crunch time. Low tickets for this game are selling in the $65 range. This will also be the final Sunday home game for the Jaguars in the 2009 season.

Jaguars Lose Reggie Hayward For Season

It looks like defensive end Reggie Hayward’s offseason contract gamble didn’t pay off. He took a huge pay cut and signed a contract laden with incentives that he’ll never reach now that a broken left leg will keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. This is just one more blow to a Jags defense that was already depleted before the start of their week 1 game.

The Jaguars will play the hapless Houston Texans at home on December 6th. The Texans may seem like a perennial failure, but they’ve shown great improvement in recent years and could be ready for their first breakout season, where they actually go to the playoffs and maybe win a game. Or maybe not. Either way, this is a game we really shouldn’t overlook. The Jaguars need to take advantage of these late season home games, because we don’t get them every year. Tickets for this game are reselling for under $35, which is the lowest I’ve seen for Jags cheap seats all season.

The Buffalo Bills will make a visit to Jacksonville on November 22 of this year. The Bills looked like the typical Bills during their first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. They struggled on offense, especially in the red zone, and scored most of their points from field goals. The Bills are like the anti-touchdown team. Expect them to struggle away from home and the Jaguars will cruise to an easy win in this one. Tickets are selling for under $45 for the nosebleed sections.

Jaguars vs. Chiefs @ Municipal Stadium – November 8

The Kansas City Chiefs will come to town to get destroyed by the Jaguars on November 8th of this year. This will be just the 4th home game in the Jaguars schedule, which means the second half of the season is going to be loaded with games where we’ll have the 12th man advantage. It also means fewer trips to the frigid northeast during the winter months. Tickets for this game are relatively cheap for an AFC opponent, but I guess that’s because the Chiefs have been one of the worst teams in football over the past decade (but hey, at least they’re not the Lions, right?).

The Jaguars will play their 3rd home game against a non-conference team in the St. Louis Rams on October 18. This will be the 2nd non-conference game for the Jaguars at Municipal Stadium this season out of just 3 home games total. It will also be one of the cheapest Jaguars games to attend this year, with tickets reselling for under $40 for cheap seats as people unload tickets for a game that will no doubt be a Jaguars blowout over a team nobody really cares about. Seriously, what have the Rams done since Kurt Warner left, and how many years ago was that? I think they drafted that one kid who’s in prison now, but that’s not really an accomplishment.

The Jaguars will play the rival Tennessee Titans on October 4th of this season, their 2nd home game of the year. The Titans looked good in the Hall of Fame Game last week against the Buffalo Bills, but you have to remember we’re talking about the Bills here, and everyone beats up on them. The Titans will be a much weaker team on defense this season, and I have full confidence the Jaguars will come out the better team. Low face value tickets for this game are selling for around $50 on the secondary market. They’ll be a bit cheaper for the home game the rest of the month against non-conference and/or non rival games, but we all know those games just aren’t as much fun.

The Jaguars will have their first home game of the season at Municipal Stadium on September 20th against the defending NFC champion Arizona Cardinals. There are times when I don’t care for the Jaguars having to face a team that was in the Super Bowl the previous year in the first games of the season, but not this year. The Cardinals were a fluke last year, and they’re going to prove it this year by only winning 5 or 6 games. This game against the Jaguars is not going to be one of them.
