Buy Texans vs. Raiders tickets
Week 4 has the Oakland Raiders visiting the Houston Texans. This will be the Texans 3rd home game in the first 4 weeks at the season, so let’s hope they take advantage of it. The Raiders have been a struggling team ever since they lost that Super Bowl to the Buccaneers oh so many years ago. Now they are basically a half-way house for convicted criminals out on probation who also want to try playing football. Tickets for this game on the black market (scalpers) are among the cheapest I’ve seen for the entire Texans season, with some seats going for under $35.

The Jaguars come to Houston to play the Texans in Week 3 on September 27. This game has the normal Sunday noon kickoff time. I’m seeing tickets for this game for sale for nearly every section of Reliant Stadium, up to and including the luxury suites. If you didn’t buy your tickets ahead of time, there isn’t much of a markup on most of these tickets, and in some cases there is zero markup at all. I would have to guess those are season ticket holders who can’t make it that week and are just looking to dump their tickets for some quick cash, even if it means taking a little loss.
The Texans kick off their season with a home game at Reliant Stadium against the New York Jets on September 13. The Jets hail from a rat-infested hellhole known as New Jersey, so we’ll have to hope they don’t bring that stench with them. The Texans will show them how we do it down here in Texas. There are still lots of tickets available for this game on the secondary market, with the cheapest being on the Gridiron Terrace but there are also lots of the more expensive seats for sale and even luxury boxes for larger groups.
Sports Illustrated’s mock draft currently has the Texans picking defensive end Aaron Maybin from Penn State. Maybin is an excellent pass rusher who would help out the Texans opposite Mario Williams. My biggest problem with Maybin is his size. Although he’s 6′4″, he only weighs 240 pounds, which isn’t enough for my taste. I’d prefer to see him around 250 to 255 for that height. He’s not skinny by a normal man’s standards, but he is by NFL defensive end standards. Here’s an interview with Maybin from a couple years ago:
Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has been selected to the AP All Pro first team. The AP All Pro team does not require a player represented from each team, so it’s considered by many a more honorable selection than making the Pro Bowl team.
