Andre Johnson proved on Sunday that he is the toughest player in the NFL. After catching a big 44-yard pass on what would be the go-ahead drive for the Texans Johnson fell on the ball, causing a chest contusion. He started coughing up blood and was taken to the sideline. He returned to the game briefly after that, but when he came off the sidelines again the Texans medical staff hid his helmet so he couldn’t go back out on the field. He was taken to the hospital after the game and X-rays showed no broken ribs and his prognosis for next week’s game against Buffalo is good.
A Madden video game has predicted the Raiders struggles will continue versus the Texans this week in a 27 to 13 loss. Steve Slaton rushed for over 130 yards and Matt Schaub passed for nearly 250 more. JaMarcus Russell of the Raiders only passed for 125 yards and threw 2 touchdowns, continuing speculation that he’ll be benched.
Texans rookie tight end Anthony Hill has the first confirmed case of swine flu in the NFL this season. He was hospitalized but should be fine in a few days. If you’ve received an autograph from Hill in the past week, it might be a good idea to avoid contact with others and drink a lot of orange juice. Oh, and Campbell’s soup is also quite good.
Who’s got tickets?
Is it just me or do the Texans have an usually hard non-division schedule this season? Their final game of the regular season will be against the New England Patriots, who many are predicting to return to the Super Bowl with the return of Tom Brady (I am not one of those “many”. Tom Brady is finished). Tickets for this game are selling for less than $50 on the secondary market.
The Texans have fined cornerback Dunta Robinson $25,000 for writing “Pay me Rick” on his shoe for Sunday’s game against the Jets. Robinson wants a long term deal from the team. He says he knew the fine was coming and his rift with Texans GM Rick Smith has been settled. He’s working with the team to have the fine donated to a worthy charity.
I’m sorry I’ve had to do this, but the spam bots pushing their meds and x-rated websites have been too much lately. Spammers make me sick, so I’ve taken away their ability to advertise on this site. I’ve got a list of all the websites they’ve pushed and I’ve got my own methods of revenge. Let’s not worry about that; let’s get back to football.

The Seattle Seahawks will make a rare visit to Reliant Stadium to play the Texans on December 13. As this is a non-division game late in the season, demand for tickets has been relatively light. This is a great game for Texans fans if you plan on buying tickets on the secondary market. I’ve seen some seats selling for under $35.

The Colts visit the Texans for a Sunday afternoon game on November 29. There are still plenty of tickets available for this 11/29 game on the resell (black) market. The low end tickets are going for about $40, while the really desirable seats are going for a few hundred bucks a pop.

The Tennessee Titans will visit their franchise’s old stomping grounds when they visit the Texans on 11/23. This is a Monday Night Football game with a 7:30 local kickoff time. Tickets for this game are fairly inexpensive on the secondary market, especially for a MNF game. I think these might be the cheapest Monday night tickets you’ll be able to find across the league this season.

After spending a few weeks on the road, the Texans return home to Reliant Stadium to play the San Francisco 49ers on October 25. I’m not saying the 49ers are fairies, but they do come from San Francisco and I’ve heard rumors that their offensive line lives in a commune and drives to games in a VW Bug with flowers painted on it. The 49ers haven’t really been good since Joe Montana left, and that was what, like 18 years ago? Jesus, the post-Montana era in San Fran is just about old enough to smoke. Tickets for this game are going for really cheap right now on the secondary market, so it’s probably a good idea to buy them now just in case this becomes a higher demand game as the season gets under way.
