Good news, Marlins fans! The Fish are not actively shopping any of their star players around in an effort to trim payroll. The Marlins have a losing record, but they are still within 4 games of 1st place in the very tight NL Central. It looks like the Marlins are not going to give up on this season unless things really start to fall apart soon, which is a huge relief to all of us worried that we were about 1 loss away from seeing our beloved team dismantled once again. It seems to me the Marlins are about due for another championship run, seeing as it’s been over 5 years since our last one, and we all know Marlins championships come in 5-6 year intervals.
The Marlins have a scheduled off day today. Usually that’s not something I’d report on here, because I know you’re not idiots, but I had to make some updates and this is the easiest way to test them and make sure everything works alright. Enjoy your day.

It’s rare for 6′8″ Marlins pitcher Sean West to face off against a bigger foe, but he came through in winning style on Monday night as he beat 6′10″ future-Hall-of-Famer Randy Johnson by a score of 4-0. West no-hit the Giants through 6 innings in what was just his fourth career start. He also had fine control on the night, walking just 1 batter in those 6 no-hit innings. As Randy Johnson can confirm, young and exceptionally tall pitchers will often struggle with control issues.
Marlins outfielder Brett Carroll had the first home run of his career in this game off of Johnson. The fan who caught the ball gave it back to Carroll in exchange for a bat.
