Monkeys was one of the strangest and most enjoyable movies I've
ever watched. Terry Gilliam directs this sci-fi masterpiece
with a weirdness that has become his signature. I personally
think Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the best movie Gilliam's
ever directed, but I know the court of public opinion won't
let normal people think that way. 12 Monkeys is about an unstable
criminal being sent back in time from the year 2035 to discover
the origins of a plague that is ravaging mankind. In the future
they have experimented with time-travel, but they have not perfected
it, as our hero gets tossed back and forth and ends up making
appearances in eras that are not relevant to his mission. Don't
worry, this isn't like those campy Bill & Ted movies, I
swear. |
