While Jerry Jones has expressed his confidence in the team’s young quarterback, Cowboys legend Tony Dorsett isn’t so sure. He was quoted yesterday as saying “I don’t know why on God’s Earth Tony Romo has been anointed a superstar in the National Football League. Tony is very young in his career. Not to say you can’t be young in your career and be a superstar because you’ve got one up there in Minnesota in Adrian Peterson. But the thing is this: You have a guy who hasn’t done much, and quarterbacks in the NFL, most of them go through this growing curve. He hasn’t gone through that growing curve, but he was anointed this great player all of a sudden. Now he’s having to live up to that. And obviously Tony has some deficiencies.”
Romo put in one of the worst performances of his career against the Giants on Sunday, going just 13 for 29 with 3 picks, all of which led to Giants touchdowns.
Lady luck was not on our side in last night’s loss to the Giants. Every single bounce seemed to favor the Giants on their way to a last-second victory on the opening night of the new Cowboys Stadium. Jerry Jones’ $1.2 billion modern marvel sparkled in its debut and nobody hit the giant TV, but the Giants were blessed with some magic in front of 105,000 screaming Cowboys fans. Eli Manning had about a dozen passes deflected, as he does every game because he’s too stupid to realize you can’t just skim a ball an inch above a defenders head and not expect him to try to touch it, but those passes didn’t end up in the hands of Cowboys cornerbacks. Instead, on the final game-winning drive, a very poor pass that would have been behind the wide receiver was deflected right into his hands. On another play earlier in the game, Witten, who will probably see his awareness rating go way down in next year’s Madden, allowed a pass thrown behind him to hit off the back of his foot and into the hands of a Giants defender. Had the officials not initially ruled an incomplete pass, it would have been a pick-6 on Romo. Witten just stood there, oblivious to what had just happened. Uggh, it was an ugly game for us and an even uglier way to lose. Let’s hope we can get ‘em back at lowly Giants Stadium later this year.
In other Cowboys related news, there appeared to be problems with the sound system in the new stadium. The national anthem sounded awful and some speakers seemed to be malfunctioning while it was being sung. I’m sure Jerry Jones’ audio guy is buried in an unmarked grave right now.

The Chargers come into Dallas to play the Cowboys on December 13 in a non-conference game. This will be the second-to-last regular season home game for the Cowboys in their new stadium. Tickets are selling for lower than normal on the secondary market, or at least what I consider “normal” given that this is the first season we’ve had in the new stadium and there’s limited date available.
Here are some tickets still available for this game
The Cowboys will host their first Thanksgiving Day game in the new stadium when they play the Raiders on November 26. Apparently the NFL wants the Cowboys to beat up on one of their weaker teams because nothing in more American than turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a Cowboys win on Thanksgiving. As one would expect, tickets for this game are reselling at a higher price than normal. The cheap seats in the Upper Reserved areas are going for about $85-$90, while luxury suites are going for about $30,000 (that’s with 20 tickets and 4 parking passes, mind you). This should be a fun game to watch for all Cowboys fans, and it’s the one time in the year when the Cowboys’ stadium is truly the center of the universe.
