The Raiders come to town to play the Browns on December 27. The Raiders have been one of the worst franchises in football since they lost the Super Bowl 8 years ago. Tickets for this game have been cool on the resale market, with some selling for under $30. This will be a great game for true Browns fans who just love watching their team beat up on a helpless opponent. Be prepared for miserable weathers, a ton of noise, and some of the best tailgating in football.

Do you think Browns fans care a little extra about their team when the Steelers come to town? Judging by ticket sales, I’d say the answer is a resounding “YES”. The Browns host the Steelers on a Thursday night game that will be nationally televised on 12/10. To say there’s a big demand for tickets for this game would be an understatement. I’m seeing cheapseat tickets selling for about double the price they would for a normal game. Expect a lot of kids to play hookie on Friday because this game (with an 8:20 kickoff time) won’t get over until close to midnight and there’s not going to be any catnaps during the commercial breaks. I’m predicting this is going to be one rowdy affair, and you probably won’t get your voice back until the middle of next week.

Browns Miracle Win Moves Them Up To 28 In Power Rankings

The Miracle at Ralph Wilson Stadium has given the Browns a 1-4 record and boosted them up to #28 in this week’s ESPN power rankings. That’s up a spot from last week. Alright, there was nothing miraculous about this week’s 6-3 win over Buffalo. In fact, it was one of the more pitiful games I’ve ever seen between two teams that fought back and forth to demonstrate how inept they were. If the league had any sense they would have suspended both teams for their 4 games for insufficient quality play. That said, the Browns won a f**king football game!!! On the road!!! Somehow the Bills are still ranked ahead of us, even though we’ve got the same record and we’ve beat them at their home field. Whatever, these rankings are meaningless anyway. Just as long as we get a decent draft pick.

The Browns start the month of December by hosting the Chargers on 12/6. Note that this will be played in the second batch of Sunday afternoon games, meaning the kickoff is scheduled for 4:05pm EST. Ticket resales for this game are some of the lightest I’ve seen for this season. Last month there were even several available for under $30. That could change by the time this game rolls around, depending on the records of the Browns and the Chargers. It seems that some Browns fans don’t have faith that we’ll still be “in it” in early December. Shame on them.

The Browns Won A Football Game!

Usually, a football game with a 6-3 final score is considered a classic battle of hard-nosed grinders; the kind of game they’ll show replays of for years to come. The Browns 6-3 win over the Buffalo Bills yesterday was quite the opposite. It was a poorly played matchup of two terribly inept teams who basically make mistake after mistake in a ridiculous attempt to let the other team win. The Bills ended up making the final mistake that broke Ralph Wilson’s back on Sunday, a special teams miscue that led to a game-winning field goal for the Browns.

Savor this one, my friends. The Browns will not win many games this year, and we can’t expect to get this kind of (lack of) competition every week. The Browns played yesterday’s game like they were the 2nd worst team in football, with only the anemic Bills being worse.

Time To Drop Braylon Edwards From Your Fantasy Team

Braylon Edwards is very much a vertical wide receiver. Brady Quinn is very much a horizontal/dump passer. Those two ingredients don’t mix well when you’ve got Braylon Edwards on your fantasy football team. Edwards caught just one ball on Sunday, and he’s already complaining about a lack of chemistry with Quinn. I don’t think it’s really a lack of chemistry, but just a difference in playing styles. Sure, Quinn might be wary of Edwards reputation as a ball dropping machine, but he probably worries more about his own ability to throw precision passes deep down the field. Look for Edwards to have a major drop (no pun intended) in output this season. Dump him on whatever unsuspecting fantasy owner you can and pick yourself up someone who will actually get passes thrown his way.

The Browns welcome the Ravens into town on November 16 for a nationally televised Monday Night Football game. Well, maybe “welcome” isn’t the correct word. It’s not the same kind of welcome my wife shows to my boss when we have him over for dinner. It’s more of a slap-you-in-the-face, stomp-on-you-when-you-fall kind of welcome. Anytime the Ravens are in town, you can be sure it’ll be a hard-hitting affair. The Browns feed off the fans’ resentment of Art Modell and what he did to them so many years ago. Resale tickets for this game should sell briskly, as with any Monday Night Football game. Fans know the TV cameras will be there and millions will be watching across the country, and if they scream loud enough they’re grandmother in Boca Raton might hear them.

Brady Quinn Wins Starting Job

Brady Quinn beat out Derek Anderson for the starting QB job, it was reported yesterday. Quinn was told he would start this week by Eric Mangini on Tuesday night. Quinn was only 1-2 as a starter last season before breaking his finger, and I thought Derek Anderson looked better in the preseason and in training camp. I guess we’re going to keep pushing Quinn as the “star” of this offense until he either actually starts to play well or we push him over the edge.

I’ve got to admit, as much as I hate the Packers, they do generate strong ticket sales wherever they go. They might be one of the few teams that could sell out the Silverdome in late December. The Packers will greet a sellout crown in Cleveland on October 25, and we’ll return the favor with some of our usual Cleveland hospitality. Tickets for this game promise to sell strong on the secondary market, and it looks like they’re already $5-$10 more a ticket than the average Browns home game. Some lower level seats are also still available if you’re willing to pay for ‘em.

Ochoretardo and the Bengals come to town on October 4th, the Browns first home game in 2 weeks. The Browns will not have another home game for another two weeks, on October 25 against the Packers. Tickets for this game are selling at about normal prices on the secondary market, including nosebleed seats for under $45. Some of the lower level sideline seats are going for several hundred dollars apiece, proving that the economic downturn can only impact Browns fans so much.
