Here’s a video of Jeremy Clarkson’s Top Gear review of the Alfa Romeo GTV. Some may not like the unique look of the GTV, but I love that back end. I’d take one of these over a small BMW any day.
I absolutely love the Acura NSX. I’ve loved it ever since “the Wolf” drove one in Pulp Fiction. When he tells Jules he’s half an hour away and then in the next scene it’s 10 minutes later and he’s skidding into the driveway it cracks me up every time. The NSX was one of the only true high-end import sports cars ever brought to the US market. Here’s a video review from Car & Driver of the 1999 Acura NSX:
The Bentley Arnage R is a quarter million dollar beast of a car that nobody really needs, but plenty of people want. It’s a luxury mansion on wheels, featuring chrome and wood trim everywhere and all sorts of gizmos and gadgets you’d never find in your Volvo. The options list is immense, including a hood ornament that costs over $3,000! This is Car & Driver’s review of the 2007 Arnage. I found the host’s delivery to be annoying but also somewhat entertaining. Where does C&D find these people? He seems to pause before finishing the last few……………………………………… words of each sentence. Is there a name for such a speech impediment?
It’s no secret that Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear is a huge fan of Aston Martins. While he nitpicks at the latest offerings from Ferrari and Lamborghini, he always seems to marvel at the mix of luxury and performance Aston Martin manages to pack into their cars. They are class, but at the same time they are sport. Here’s the video of the Top Gear review of the Aston Martin DB7:
Here’s a video slideshow of the Austin FX4, which most people just know as the London taxi. If you’ve ever been to London, you’ve probably seen thousands of these little black cars with plenty of room for passengers in the rear seats. London has cracked down hard on traffic congestion, which makes it expensive for people to have vehicles in the city. These cabs get a lot of business because of it, and London’s policy makers love the fact that they are small and don’t clog up London’s historic narrow streets.
This is an interesting old commercial for a much-maligned car. The AMC Gremlin may have been notorious for making sure its owners never got laid, but in this ad they are clearly trying to appeal to the minority consumer with their economy car.
Believe it or not, the Audi 90 Quattro was probably one of the first Audi’s I had ever heard of. These cars were really a nice change of pace in the American market, where sedans had become poorly-built pieces of junk by the mid to late 80’s. Trust me, my family went from a Chevy Citation to a Ford Taurus. Yeah, absolute junk. The Citation actually drove better than the Taurus. As you can see from this promo video, the Audi 90 could really move and was well built:
Here’s a video of Fifth Gear’s review of the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA. These small little European cars pack a lot of pop.
Interested in buying a used Acura MDX? Well, here’s what reviewers thought of the 2007 Acura MDX when it was brand new. Check out the video:
The AMC Eagle was a really great offroad car made in the early 1980’s. These cars were capable of some pretty amazing offroad stunts straight from the factory, but they are also really popular with car modders who enjoy making them even more offroad-worthy. I don’t think they’ve made another offroad car like this in the 25 years since.
