Forget about the odds-makers. Forget about the Yankees payroll. The low budget Orioles rocked C.C. Sabathia and the Yankees bullpen for 10 runs in a 10-5 opening day win against the Yankees. The win temporarily puts the Orioles in first place in the AL East. The O’s got a home run today from Cesar Izturis, who has 1 home run total in the past two seasons.
Jeremy Guthrie pitched alright but was not too impressive, but the Orioles bullpen was able to come in and hold down the MLB’s richest payroll. The Camden Yard crowd booed one of the Yankees’ biggest off-season signings, first baseman Mark Teixeira, all day long and he struggled at the plate with an 0 for 4 performance.
