Sports Illustrated’s mock draft is predicting the Falcons will pick Peria Jerry, a defensive tackle out of Ole Miss, with the 24th pick in the 1st round. Jerry is a great run-stuffer who gravitates towards the ball and creates havoc on the inside of the line of scrimmage. He gets by blockers with a move that can only be compared to Deacon Jones’ head slap, except lower on the body and legal in the NFL. He’s got very quick hands that he uses to his advantage to get by people.

With the successful 2008 Falcons season over, it’s time to look forward to 2009. I think the team exceeded just about everyone this year, and it’s safe to say that Matt Ryan is poised to be among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. The Falcons seem to be a team that could actually make a run of several playoff seasons in a row, and with the playoffs of course comes the possibility of, dare I say… the Super Bowl?
