Robert Rauschenberg
| Biography |
| Robert
Rauschenberg was born in 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas. He helped
redefine art in the 1950s and 60s and provide an alternative to
Abstract Expressionism. He is famous for his "White Paintings,"
which feature no image at all, just a white canvas. He also has
been known to attach found objects to the canvas. He and Jasper
Johns are considered forerunners of American Pop Art. Robert Rauschenberg
continues to work from his home and studio in Captiva, Florida. |
