| Rene
Magritte was a Surrealist artist born in Belgium in 1898. His
first exhibition was panned by critics. He continued to paint,
however, and his work often depicted the juxtaposition of familiar
objects. His most famous piece, The Son of Man, shows
a man with a green apple covering his face. He died in 1967. |
