| Henri
Matisse was born in 1869 in France. He was a lawyer, but after
falling ill he took up painting while recovering. He became the
leader of the Fauvist movement. He was one of the more significant
artists of the early 20th century. Matisse died in 1954. One of
his paintings sold for over $17 million. |
